Welcome to Rotary Club # 78391, District # 4150 of the International Rotary Organization.
Our Rotary Club was officially sanctioned February 28th 2008
We are located on the pacific coast of Jalisco, Mexico often called the Costalegre or the beautiful coast!
Costalegre Rotary Club meets weekly in Barra de Navidad.
(Please click here to open a list of all our community projects since we started in 2008)
During the winter months our 40+ members are joined by another twenty or more guests (some visiting Rotarians)
who gathering for breakfast.
The meetings resemble many other Rotary Clubs to a point, but ours are different in that they includes many couples,
and many members are retired.
We are busy fundraising, as might be expected! We solicit new members and hear presentations from a most amazing assortment
of speakers. The great fun begins when someone proposes a new project that might require some mental and physical elbow
grease.
Our first year raised and spent some money, all on small projects brought before the club by needy local concerns,
and that trend has continued.
In our second year, the Costalegre Rotary Club successfully raised money with two high profile fund
raisers in Melaque and Barra de Navidad. We are quick to point out that we now have the biggest and greatest
Chili and Salsa Cook-off between Puerto Vallarta and, who knows, perhaps Acapulco.
This year, the club is spending a great deal more money in the area, a little at a time, where it seems most needed.
The Costalegre Rotary Club returns all proceeds from such events to the communities near Barra and typically
has projects improving schools and health clinics.
Traveling Rotarians are encouraged to attend a meeting on Wednesday mornings at Cabo Blanco Hotel in Barra de Navidad
at 9:00AM. |
